Social Six: 6 mistakes you’re making with your social media content.
ONE - You’re selling.
Social media is about building a community and engaging with them. You want to focus on building a relationship and providing content that is valuable and relevant, then sell. This will increase your conversion!
TWO - Posting inconsistently.
One week, you post everyday and the next you don’t post at all. It’s better to set yourself a realistic goal and be consistent, for example 2-3 times per week.
THREE - Using too many hashtags and not using SEO in your caption.
Instagram now recommends 3-6 hashtags maximum. You’re better off writing a lengthier caption that tells the audience what your video is about. This will help the algorithm find the right audience for your content.
FOUR - Not using your account!
If you’re just posting and then logging out, we need to change that. You need to be engaging with content from other accounts. Respond to comments and spend some time watching, liking and commenting on other people’s content. This will show that you’re an active account who engages with their community.
FIVE - You don’t have a content strategy!
The biggest mistake we see with our clients before we start working with them. You need to have a strategy in mind for the type of content you will be sharing. Do you have content pillars? Is there an aesthetic all content will have? Is it on brand? Having a clear strategy will help your audience clearly understand you.
SIX - Following trends for the sake of it.
If you do choose to post based on a recent trend, please make sure you tie it into your brand or product.
